Ottawa Organization Development Certificate Program

Program Overview
The NTL OD Certificate program is provided in partnership by the ODNOO and the NTL Institute. The certificate program is a carefully integrated sequence of programs and experiential work designed to provide a thorough knowledge of the underlying principles and theories of Organization Development and to build capability across a full range of OD competencies.
This program fulfills individuals’ desire to learn the fundamentals of organization development and practical applications to solve complex problems. Practitioners who want to formalize and diversify their current knowledge will find the program a challenging learning experience that will expand their capacity as organization development practitioners.

Tuition and Admission
This OD certificate program is a twelve month program. Enrollment is limited and applications will be reviewed for admission. Tuition for the Ottawa Organizational Certificate Program is $12,500 Cdn. An initial payment of $5,000 Cdn. is due upon registration, and the remaining balance is due in three installments over the certificate program. The program fee includes tuition, classroom materials and daily lunch.


Cancellation Policy
Fees are not refundable under any circumstances. A participant who misses a course may participate in an equivalent NTL public program offering at no additional charge.

Module I
Human Interaction Laboratory
May 21st - 25th, 2008

High levels of self-awareness and awareness of group dynamics
are critical skills for OD practitioners. The Human Interaction program is an intensive small group experience which results in significantly increased self-awareness and the understanding of interpersonal and group dynamics.

Module II
Current Theory & Practice in OD
September 17th - 21st, 2008

This module provides a comprehensive introduction to the theory and practice of organization development – its history, current practices, basic principles, personal skills needed by practitioners, and available technology.

Module III
Group Process Consultation
November 19th - 22nd , 2008

This experiential and cognitive module develops the skills necessary for intervening in existing group processes. The program covers various conceptual models and an integrated model of group process consultation. Other focal areas include intervention, life cycle, the evolution of groups, phases of work group activities, and areas for intervention (task and maintenance).

Module IV
Diagnosing Organizations With Impact
January 14th - 18th, 2009

A critical task for OD consultants is accurately diagnosing the crosscurrents of information that exist within every organization. Participants will learn about organizations as open systems and develop skills in organization diagnosis.

Module V
Intervention Strategies
March 18th - 22nd, 2009

This module provides hands-on experience in making intervention choices at all phases of the action research cycle and offers techniques for effective implementation at the individual, interpersonal, group, intergroup and/or organization level.

Module VI
Leading Organizational Change
June 3rd - 7th, 2009

This module focuses on the dynamics of organization change and the challenge of successfully leading change. A body of knowledge about the dynamics of organization change has been developed over many years that explains what happens during times of change, why these things happen and what to do to achieve the best outcomes.
