Appreciative
Inquiry for Practitioners
Appreciative
Inquiry (AI) is a philosophy, a world view, a process for
aligning organizational goals with the assets and values
of the people within the system. AI can be a powerful perspective
and process that engages people at all levels of the organization.
AI can foster enthusiasm for and high commitment to effective
change. Used throughout the world, the Appreciative Inquiry
approach is equally effective in large businesses and small
intimate systems. It can be a perspective on any process—coaching
leaders, creating and strengthening teams, resolving differences,
valuing diversity, redesigning organizations, strategic
planning –as well as a process for creating community and
addressing social issues. In fact, Appreciative Inquiry
shifts the entire process of action research from deficit-based
problem solving to strength-based solution focused theory.
By searching out the positive, the generative, the creative,
AI enables organizations and individuals to change at the
speed of imagination – a skill much to be desired in these
times of rapid and discontinuous change.
Combining
theory and experiential learning, the program will immerse
participants in the practice of enabling clients to identify
what gives life to their systems in ways that create agile,
adaptive and creative organizations. This certificate program
not only teaches the use of AI as a process for change in
human systems, but also includes the major addition of providing
skills that will increase understanding of the use of self
as an agent of change, enhance contracting skills, and develop
capacity to utilize experiential learning as a process for
fostering creativity. This combination produces change agents
with the capacity for excellence in all the required functions
of a master change agent!
Participants
in the Appreciative Inquiry Certificate Program will:
-
Increase their effectiveness to intervene in rapidly
changing systems
-
Acquire knowledge, tools and resources from the best
practices in AI to expand their repertoire of consultation
methods
-
Increase their consultative awareness and effectiveness
-
Enhance their personal and professional effectiveness
as an agent of change
-
Develop
skills to facilitate strategic and participatory changes
leading to improved quality of work-life, increased
workplace productivity and increased organization profitability.
