Walt
Hopkins, Ph.D.
Walt Hopkins lives in Scotland and has worked
with people from more than fifty countries and dozens
of organisations, including Apple, the BBC, Disney,
Management Centre Europe, Motorola, Scottish Prison
Service, Shell, and Unilever. Walt’s particular contribution
to the Appreciative Inquiry field is his focus on
Individual Development. For thirty years he has coached
people on influencing skills and on life and career
design—using Appreciative Inquiry. Walt is co-author
of the NTL Readings Book chapter on Appreciative Inquiry:
“The Power of Imagining Positively: T Group Possibilities”
and he has posted other Appreciative Inquiry articles
at WaltHopkins.com, his new website. |

Karen
James, M.S.O.D.
A professional in organization development,
Karen combines consulting experience, behavioral science
theory, and creativity in all of her work. Karen leads
groups in strategic planning, appreciative inquiry,
visioning, diversity/inclusion, and team development.
She also provides coaching and training. Her clients
include healthcare, manufacturing, insurance, retail,
religious institutions, and non-profit organizations.
A hallmark of Karen’s work is the use of large graphic
displays created in real time to help the client “see
the big picture.” Often, Karen records the group’s
discussion using words and images to stimulate innovation
and creativity, to reveal the relationships between
components of the system, and to create a collaboratively
developed understanding. At other times, Karen leads
participants in creating their own maps of the past,
present, and future. Participants report increased
clarity, renewed energy and excitement, and enhanced
commitment.
Karen has a Master of Science degree in Organization
Development from American University/NTL Institute
and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
from Florida A&M University. Karen is a member
of several professional organizations including the
NTL Institute, the Organization Development Network
and the International Forum of Visual Practitioners.

Bernard
J. Mohr, M.Ed.
Bernard J. Mohr specializes in whole systems change.
One of the early pioneers in the field of strength based
approaches, has 35 years experience in helping clients
such as BP Plc, British Airways, Coca-Cola, GlaxoSmithKlein,
Hannaford/Delhaize, L.L. Bean, Newark Beth Israel Medical
Center, and the I.R.S with complex organizational problems,
He is the author of five books and numerous articles
in the field of AI, including the upcoming Appreciative
Evaluation: Measuring What Matters in People Projects
& Programs (Fall, 2005). A graduate of Waterloo,
Toronto and Columbia Universities he is also an adjunct
faculty at Concordia and is on the Advisory Board of
the Taos Institute. |

Tom
Osborn, M.S.
Tom Osborn has more than 35 years of experience in line
management, consulting, teaching consulting skills,
and mentoring. His client work focuses on building leadership
capacity to lead organizations through transformational
change; developing high performing teams that work well
together and produce high quality results; and creating
organizational cultures that fully engage employees
for increased and sustainable bottom line results. He
has integrated strength-based, transformational change
processes grounded in AI theory and practice in all
of his work. Clients include organizations in the nonprofit,
for-profit and governmental sectors. Osborn earned his
undergraduate degrees in psychology and political science
from the University of Iowa and completed his graduate
work in organization development at The American University
in Washington, D.C. He was a founding co-owner of AI
Consulting, an international group of consultants who
use Appreciative Inquiry in their consulting practice
and served on their Global Board of Trustees. He is
a founder of the Colorado Organization Development Network
and is a member of NTL Institute for Applied Behavioral
Sciences.

Sushma Sharma, M.A.
A Behavioral Scientist, Poet, Coach and a Facilitator,
Sushma specializes in the areas of managing diversity,
polarities & change. Recent areas of work include
application of appreciative inquiry, open space technology
and spiral dynamics integral to Organization development
and system transformation. As an organization development
consultant, she leads and provides consultancy to change
teams in leadership development, team building and facilitating
self-awareness and purposeful performance in individuals.
Sushma is the past President of Indian Society for Applied
Behavioral Sciences. She is also a member of OD Institute
and IODA. She is associated as facilitator with various
institutes like National Training Institute for Applied
Behavioral Science (USA), ITIM (Denhaag), Administrative
Staff College of India, Indian Institute of Management
Lucknow, and S.P. Jain Institute of Management, Mumbai.

Tony
Silbert
Tony Silbert has over 15 years of experience in organization
development, change leadership consulting, and training
design and delivery. Tony is passionate about supporting
organizations in articulating and achieving their goals,
enabling transformational change, and creating organizations
that exceed their economic, employee, and environmental
aspirations. His primary areas of emphasis include Appreciative
Inquiry (AI) for large-scale change, strategic planning,
organization design, and teaming/collaboration. He works
with private and public sector organizations in a variety
of industries, both domestically and abroad, including:
Allstate, American Express, Bell Canada Enterprises,
Blackbaud, Chemonics, Department of Health and Human
Services, Department of Treasury, Immigration and Naturalization
Service, John Snow Inc., Mellon Bank, MetroHealth System,
Nextel, DC Sustainable Business Network, Points of Light
Foundation, Social Security Administration, U.S. Agency

Sloan, M.A.
Barbara Sloan helps individuals and organizations achieve
breakthrough levels of enthusiasm, collaboration and
achievement with her innovative use of Appreciative
Inquiry. Rigorous inquiry illuminates the best of relevant
experiences, leading her clients to create a shared
image of their desired future and practical plans to
move toward their dream. Her clients strengthen their
relationships and agreements, sustaining their ability
to achieve breakthrough results.
Former Director of the NTL Institute Center for Organizational
Change, Barbara is President of Sloan Dialogs, LLC,
an internationally recognized consulting firm specializing
in strategic planning, team building and executive
coaching. In her 25 years of practice Barbara has
worked with profit, non-profit and governmental enterprises
around the globe.

Jane
Magruder Watkins, M.S.H.R.D.
Jane Magruder Watkins, a past Chair of the Board of
the NTL Institute for Applied Behavioral Science, has
worked in the field of Organization Development (OD)
for 40 years. She has been at the forefront of the development
of Appreciative Inquiry, and, since the mid-1980’s,
has pioneered its use in corporate, non-profit and government
organizations across the globe. She was a co-creator
of the Global Excellence in Management (GEM) Initiative
that pioneered the use of AI with humanitarian and development
organizations around the globe. She teaches AI through
the NTL Institute, the Taos Institute, in client organizations
and for several university graduate programs. She has
published several articles about Appreciative Inquiry
and is co-author with Bernard Mohr of the book: Appreciative
Inquiry: Change at the Speed of Imagination.
She holds an MA degree in English Literature; an
MS degree in Organizational Development and has done
post graduate research and study at the Judge Institute
of Management Studies at Cambridge University, UK.

Liz
Workman, MS/HRD
Liz Workman is an associate in Appreciate Inquiry Unlimited,
a consortium of AI practioners, and partner in Interact
Consulting, a firm specializing in organization development
for government, non-profit and corporate clients worldwide.
For over three decades she has worked as consultant
and trainer for clients on four continents
She was assistant director of the Education For Ministry
program at The University of the South and dean of the
Leadership Development Institute at Virginia Theological
Seminary and is currently adjunct faculty at the School
of Theology at Sewanee. Her current focus is teaching
the design and implementation of experiential learning
and leadership development.
Ms. Workman received her master’s degree in human resource
development from American University. She is immediate
past Board Chair of Community Resource Group and a professional
member of NTL Institute of Applied Behavioral Science.
