DR. BARBARA BREWER has been helping people develop interpersonal and communication skills for twenty years. A business administration graduate of Baylor University, Dr. Brewer received her Masters in Educational Counseling from Midwestern State University and an Ed.D. in Counseling from Western Colorado University. With an interdisciplinary background in business and counseling, she has developed and implemented strategies and procedures for the transition of leadership in family owned businesses, team building to increase cooperation among executive teams, and coaching programs to insure executives reach their full potential. She has also developed and presented courses in leadership and human relations.
Dr. Brewer has been a professional member of NTL since 1975, conducting seminars throughout the world. She Deans the Senior Executive Challenge for NTL. She presents seminars in Singapore and Malaysia. These seminars focus on executive leadership skills, team building, and group process. She has staffed conferences on diagnosing problems in organizations. She has taught leadership and human relations theory and group techniques at several universities including UCLA, and Stanford University and recently returning from working with MBA students at CEMA, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
She received the TAASA Philanthropy Award of Excellence for the State of Texas. She was named Outstanding Former Teacher for the Electra Independent School District, Woman of the Year for Electra, TX and Outstanding Alumnus, West College of Education, Midwestern State University, She has served on the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women and was named to the West Texas Women’s Hall of Fame. The Texas House of Representatives has recognized her for work that she has done at the state and community level for prevention of family violence. She has served on the Board of Directors of First Step Crisis Intervention Center. She served on the Board of the Texas Children’s Trust Fund and Board of Director Electra Help House. She currently serves on the Wichita County Child Welfare Board.
Dr. Brewer has worked with all age groups, recently adding to the list, “70 and above,” by supervising a doctoral dissertation on aging. Even though she remains interested in the interpersonal skills unique to business and industry, she continues to explore new issues.
